Life is Good! Here are some things going on that I am happy about:
- Several mini-trips with my husband on the calendar
- Wedding plans for my daughter
- Awesome job for my son with crazy good potential
- A business made just for me that I am so blessed to have
2011 has been an incredible year. Maybe it’s partly because I quit trying so hard to paddle upstream and just decided to stop and enjoy the ride instead. Maybe it’s partly because I have cried a bucket of tears and prayed a thousand prayers. Maybe it’s because I finally reached that point in my life when I finally quit talking about things and started making them happen. I’m pleased as punch to be here and happy for everything that is in my future.
The theme this year might be “Letting Go.” I’m letting go of lots of stuff, including
- physical things in my environment; heaven knows I’ve got lots more to go.
- relationships that were no longer serving me well.
- wrong notions or ideas that were holding me back.
- paralyzing emotions.
All of this is really making my way so much brighter and happier. A friend once told me that if I wanted to have a breakthrough in my work I needed to clean out a drawer or cabinet. She was right. Try it and see. Letting go of “stuff” is totally freeing and sets your mind on the most glorious paths.
What are you letting go of? Please leave a comment and let me know!

Hi Amy! I love this post. How powerful to celebrate what’s going right AND, let go of what no longer serves you. So often we focus on what we don’t have. This is a really great perspective shift! xo
Hi Gina! Thanks for your affirmation. I know that getting clear about so many aspects of my life has led to my happiness and contentment.
Hey Amy!
Beautiful article and congrats on experiencing more “Simple Abundance” which is the term coined by the beautiful Sarah Ban Breathnach. Your friend is so right-on with her suggestion of cleaning something out to create space for something new – beautiful – and it’s working! I am letting go of control and embracing more surrender – which makes for a much more enjoyable ride for sure!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful insights…
Brenda xo
This post comes at the perfect time. About a month ago I put everything in boxes as we redecorated a room. I promised not to put as much “stuff” back out… now the task is going through it and clearing it out. I can tell that once I make the time to do this, things will shift. Stuff holds energy. I can’t wait to do a major cleansing over the next few weeks… and in reality I’m already a minimalist!
Brenda – I loved “Simple Abundance” when it came out so many years ago! Thanks for the reminder.
Amy xo back at ‘cha.
Andrea – good for you claiming your minimalist self. It sounds like what I am slowly going through in re-doing and moving my home office. Lots of stuff taken down and patiently waiting in piles for me to go through it. Hope it’s still not there come January 1…!
Congratulations Amy! I am so excited for you! This is a wonderful place for you to be. I, too, have been on a path of letting go this year. I have quite a bit more to go until I feel as good as it sounds like you do, but I have faith. I think one of the things that struck me the most was the things you are thankful for. They are things I think we all consciously know we should be thankful for, but for some reason we get so tied up in everything else, we forget to be thankful for what we have. It sure sounds like you are on the right path. :0)
I loved Simple Abundance too – in fact I just hosted the author, Sarah BanBreanach at an event. But it is an important reminder that letting go makes room for whats to come. Thanks!
Amy, I have had the pleasure of getting to know you these last few years and it is wonderful to see you unabashedly share your many gifts with the world. As I read this post I realized how many miles we’ve travelled and I look forward to seeing what 2012 brings for you and your business. ps. I have dumped a TON of stuff too as you know, and boy, does it feel good. Highly recommended!
OMG Amy! I LOVE this post! Congratulations on all your “wins”! I’m super happy to see you celebrating your successes! We should all do more of that. It’s incredibly inspiring and motivating.
What I am I letting go of? My “Superwoman Cape”! I have been Superwoman for years and have decided that role no longer serves me. Mostly because, I just don’t feel like it.
So I’m hanging up my cape and in all areas of my life narrowing my focus to the endeavors and people that have the greatest ROI. I will no longer be all things to all people and I am SO OK with that.
Here’s to letting to!
