A client showed me an app that she wanted to use on her Facebook page. Turns out, it’s really cool! My client owns a clothing boutique and wanted her customers to be able to quickly order clothes that posted pictures of on their Page. In order to accomplish this she needs to have all of their credit card and mailing information on record in her store. Then, when she posts a picture of a new dress or outfit or jewelry, the customer can just comment to the Facebook post that she would like to buy and ship, or buy and hold.
The store needed an easy way for clients to securely enter their credit card information, and wanted them to just have to give it one time. The app we put in place is from http://formsite.com. This website has customizable online forms and surveys. It can be used on your website or in Facebook, and was fairly fast and easy to put into place. It did require the use of a free custom app in Facebook in which to place the created form. (My app of choice is Static Iframe Tab.) We then dumped the HTML code from Formsite into the back end of the app on the Facebook page.
Now, visitors to the Facebook page can click on the app box that displays underneath their cover photo and are directed to the online form. They enter all of their contact information, plus credit card number, just the one time. The store then retrieves this from their Formsite dashboard and manually transfers the information into their Point of Sale system for future use.
Since the customers need to enter their credit card information, this required the paid subscription level of Formsite, but the monthly fee is more than made up for in the increased orders that the store receives from clients “ordering” on the Facebook page. If you don’t need to collect credit card information, the free version of Formsite may be all you need.
Their website gives a lot of cool examples that might trigger your thinking. Race registrations, club signup, course evaluation to name a few.
How else might you use a form on your Facebook Page? Is there a different app that you use? Thank you for sharing in a comment below!
